What is a Hydraulic Pulverizer?
A hydraulic pulverizer is a type of excavator attachment, used to crush concrete blocks and columns, while cutting and collecting the rebar inside.It consists of a main body, hydraulic cylinder, movable jaw, and fixed jaw. Both jaws are further equipped with crushing teeth and cutting blades.The fixed jaw is located at the front of the body, with crushing teeth and cutting teeth arranged from the outside in.The pulverizer is designed to break down hard and large concrete blocks with excellent crushing performance.
Working Principle
1. The excavator's hydraulic pump delivers high-pressure oil (240–300 bar) to the cylinder.
2. The cylinder drives the movable jaw, which multiplies the force via a 5-link or 6-link mechanism to close the jaw.
3. The jaws squeeze and crush the concrete, while the blades simultaneously cut the rebar, completing the whole process of crushing + cutting + separating in one step.
How Does a Pulverizer Improve Work Efficiency?
Driven by a hydraulic cylinder, the pulverizer crushes materials by controlling the angle between the movable and fixed jaws.It uses a speed valve to redirect the oil from the cylinder’s rod chamber to the cap chamber, increasing the cylinder’s extension speed. This reduces idle stroke time, maintaining full pushing force while boosting cylinder speed, and thus overall work efficiency.
With advantages like low vibration, low dust, low noise, high efficiency, and low operating cost, hydraulic pulverizers are widely used for the demolition of buildings, factory columns, houses, concrete crushing, and rebar recycling. Their working efficiency is 2–3 times higher than that of a hydraulic breaker.
